Over Memorial Day weekend, I spent a couple of days down in Columbia, Missouri with my buddy Nathaniel Radtke. We spent some time checking out a handful of the local courses, including Indian Hills DGC, Albert Oakland, Veterans Park and the infamous Harmony Bends. During our time there, we connected with the locals by playing league at Albert Oakland. It was a random draw doubles event and Nate and I both ended up cashing with our partners (he took first and we took second).
That next day, we met up with Columbia local Tom Gilbert and played Indian Hills DGC. The course had a solid variety of open holes, technical holes and some mixed. I really enjoyed that. Later on that day we snuck out to Veterans Park, a truly unique course. We thought it was going to be a shorter course but every hole ended up being in the long position. We concluded that day by grabbing dinner with my cousin Charlie who actually lives in Columbia. It was great to see him.
On the final day of the trip, we spent the morning playing the #1 rated course in the United States, Harmony Bends. Although it was flooded during our time there, we managed to play 15-16 holes. Despite the flooding, I still call it the best course I’ve ever played (with Clover Cliff Ranch being a close second).
This was a short but very productive trip and I’m glad I made it down there. Check out my three-part vlog on the trip. To connect with me, follow @caddiediscgolf on Instagram and subscribe to my channel on YouTube.
